Saints Row First Impressions

After playing Saints Row 2 and 3 first I really wanted to get my hands on the first game. I found it in a second hand game store for £4.99 so I had to buy it.

First Thoughts

When the game loads you first of all get to customise your character. This is a staple in all of the Saints Row games. I really enjoy this part of the game as I like to make my character look as ridiculous as possible (although this can be changed throughout the game if you wish).

The game was originally released in 2006. I feel that the graphics have aged well. It isn't a realistically graphical game as it is slightly "cartoonish". The game doesn't take itself too seriously however it is much more serious than the sequels. GTA can be compared to this game however it isn't as serious as Saints Row and almost feels like it take the mick out of  GTA and itself.

The second and third game have a lot of the first game features showing that the first game must of been a success. There is a main story to follow but there are activities to do on the side. This has been consistent in all three games. the way the game looks is also very similar in all three games with how the map and icons look on screen, however the graphics have improved as the times have changed.

The activities are all really fun. they range from insurance fraud where you have to play in the traffic to get injured to get money, to hit man where you have to hunt down a target and kill them.

I find it very hard to get bored of this game as there is so many different things to do. It lives up to the expectations that I had from playing the others. I look forward to completing this game with 100% achievements.

I will be giving a full review when I complete the game.

Games Store Pick Up

Price - £6.99

After playing the first in this series I really wanted to try the second half. Although I enjoyed the first one I didn't fall in love with it so didn't want to buy the part 2 for the game release amount so I decided to wait till I found it cheap. I thought that £6.99 for a boxed with instruction game was very good.

My first Saints Row game was the second game and I really enjoyed playing it from start to end, so much that I pre-ordered the third one and have completed it 100% along with achievements and have also just pre-ordered the new Saints Row IV. I have wanted the first game for a long time but have only just found it and thought it was a bargain for the price that I paid. The only disappointing thing  was that the guy in the shop gave me the classic disc in the normal case.

We always keep our eyes open for co-op games whenever we search for new games to play. We had heard good things about the Lost Planet games but had never played them. For only £3.99 we thought that this game was worth a try. We have played the tutorial and it seemed interesting, we cant give our opinions until we have played more of the game.

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 First Thoughts

After playing the first Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows I inevitably wanted to play the second.

I picked up the game in a second hand store for £6.99 which I thought was pretty reasonable, although the first one I found enjoyable I didn't want to fork out the original price for the second one and therefore waited for the price to be reduced.

First Thoughts

You are thrown into the game with a detailed cut scene where you play as Harry and are teamed with Hermione and Ron. I thought that the graphics were very good. You could clearly see who the characters were and the surroundings were also very detailed.

After the cut scene you were thrown into a fighting scene against guards. Your only spell to begin with is Stupefy but you are allowed to use other spells as you progress. After fighting the guards you continue the quest through Gringotts whilst fighting a lot more guards.

Along the way you can find floating symbols which can unlock characters (I'm not entirely sure what you do with the unlocked characters as of yet) and some symbols unlock challenge modes. These challenges can be accessed from the main menu and allow you to re-play fights but in a timed mode. You can then replay the challenges to beat your time.

After Gringotts you then have to find Honeydukes. Along the way you then fight  a lot more people and follow Hermione as she opens doors, your main job here is to protect her.

After this you then enter the school and are thrown straight into another battle with Snape. This time you also get to play as Professor McGonagall

My overall first thoughts of this game is that the graphics are very good. However the game play is very repetitive. you spend a lot of time using stupefy to kill enemies as this is the only attacking spell this gets quite boring. I am looking forward to how the game progresses and to see what other characters you become.
